Dr. McCorry has over 25 years of experience as an audiologist and hearing aid dispenser. She obtained a Bachelors degree in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology in 1984 at Ithaca College and went on to obtain a Masters degree in Audiology from Northwestern University in 1985. She recently earned her Doctorate in Audiology from the Pennsylvania School of Optometry, now known as Salus University. She is a fellow member of the American Academy of Audiology and has the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. She has been with Coastal Ear, Nose and Throat since 1998. Dr. McCorry’s areas of expertise include diagnosing hearing loss and fitting hearing aids on infants and very young children. She has extensive experience in the diagnostic testing of patients with balance disorders. She enjoys working with challenging populations, including children with autism and developmental disabilities. She sees fitting hearing aids as an opportunity to have a very positive impact on the lives of people with hearing loss. Dr. Suzanne McCorry is a clinical instructor of audiology for Montclair State University. Audiology doctoral programs combine classroom and clinical training and culminate in a clinical externship experience. Third year doctoral students are assigned for two to three day per week rotations at various external sites, including Coastal Ear Nose and Throat. In an ENT practice, audiology students have an opportunity to see a very wide variety of patients. Dr. McCorry educates the audiology student and provides feedback on the student's diagnostic, treatment, and interpersonal skills. The experience of mentoring a student who has mastered the core clinical skill set is demanding but very rewarding. Teaching compels the supervising audiologist to be thoughtful about every aspect of clinical audiology service. As a supervisor, Dr. McCorry’s first priority is to provide the highest quality of service to the patient. While under the direct supervision of an experienced audiologist the audiology intern continues to develop diagnostic skills. Ultimately the educational process results in practitioners who are responsible for independent judgment, with skills covering the full scope of audiology practice. |
