At Coastal Hearing and Balance Center, we have highly trained professionals and state of the art equipment which allows us to evaluate the various systems in the body that you need to keep you steady on your feet. Treatments for your Balance Disorder may include:

Dizziness and balance problems account for 5 to 10 percent of all physician visits and affect 40 % of people over the age of 40. Dizziness is the number one reason for physician visits by people over the age of 65. On of the problems is that the term “dizzy” is used to mean a variety of sensations, from spinning vertigo to lightheadedness. “Dizziness” can be due to a wide variety of problems.
 

Stress and Anxiety.
Balance disorders can cause extreme stress. They disrupt life’s normal routine and prevent normal activity. Anxiety is a major contributing factor in almost all patients with dizziness. Patient education is an important component of treatment at Coastal Hearing and Balance Center. An understanding of the problem goes a long way in reducing the anxiety that accompanies these disorders

Fall Prevention

Grade-school children from Toledo, Ohio, created the impressions of dizziness shown above. The students received
no help with their work except art materials and a discussion about how it felt to be dizzy. All of these works were
entered in the 1997-98 VEDA art contest for children.
